Waxing and Waning

While visiting Chimayo, New Mexico I was struck by the use of candles to inspire hope and healing. I purchased the candles there to explore organic shapes and transform the semi transparent nature of wax in this series.  Using the computer, I enhanced the raw materials and created organic shapes and forms that flow and move in many planes. I departed from the square format and cut shapes in the composition that move from two dimensional to bas relief works adding the element of light and shadow on the walls behind the work.
